Orlaine + Kaising // Director’s Cut (Destination … Thailand)

So this being our first INTERNATIONAL destination wedding, I have to make an extra special blog post about it. Instead of making this a business only trip, I decided to make it a vacation too. I brought along my favorite photographer and my future Best Man to shoot along side with me. In addition, we brought along our significant others to assist with shooting as well. Our first stop after the 14 hour flight over the Pacific was Taiwan. For 4 days, we discovered Erich’s cultural roots (in food) as we hopped around his town. We had such a meticulously planned trip; since Erich speaks taiwanese/mandarin and Andrea speaks thai, they each planned the itineraries for their countries…we didn’t have do anything! Just sit back, relax, and digest the rich culture and food each country has to offer.

After Taiwan, we spent the remaining 4 days in Phuket, Thailand where I discovered the best Pad Thai EVER. No, but seriously, this whole time, I’ve been loving the Pad Thai here in the States, but after trying the Pad Thai in the motherland… wow. If you ever drop by Phuket, make your way to Peony. Aside from the delicious food, I got a chance to film a lot of our trip, using mainly the drones and hopefully, I can make an edit of that soon to share with you all.

November 11 was the wedding for Orlaine and Kaising who was so kind to get us two enormous suites at the Slate! Thailand, like other neighboring countries in Asia is notorious for the humidity. Definitely a concern for the equipment. However, we were lucky that it wasn’t as humid as feared (even less humid than Miami in summer). Although we had occasional rainfall, it neither rained on the wedding nor our equipment. With such a vast area to explore, we only had minimal time due to the early sunset and limited light. However, we were still able to pull through and create some of the most amazing shots ever. All the events were held at this beautiful resort. I wish we had more time to spend there, seriously the best vacation and business trip ever.

Jennifer + Chen (John) // Director’s Cut

Wow, when you get a client inquiry for a wedding at the famous 5 acre, $12-million Houdini Estate in the Hollywood Hills, you book it! This place still has its caves, hidden tunnels, terraces gardens and a deep water tank where Houdini reportedly practiced his famous underwater escapes. Chen and Jennifer couldn’t have picked a more magical place. They even hired a magician to perform some acts during the reception and cocktail hour! This property is huge with lots of places for photo opportunities, this whole place was our playground to capture all of the amazing shots you’ll see in this edit. With a great team of vendors and lovable clients, this day couldn’t have gone any better. Check out their edit below!

Vivi + Jon // Director’s Cut

So this is our first time shooting at the legendary Richard Nixon Library! Although this was a 14 hour day, it didn’t feel like one as there were so many events and excitement to capture. We started the day getting ready at their place then heading over to each of their parent’s houses for the respective tea ceremonies. A catholic wedding ceremony followed right after at the St. Boniface Church. Lastly, we ended the day at the Richard Nixon Library. Although we were not permitted to capture drone shots here, we were still able to capture alternatively beautiful shots of the venue. There were great places to shoot both indoors and outdoors and even a basement with a presidential conference style board room. Christina coordinated another successful day and being able to work with Erich Chen Photography made it even sweeter. All of the vendors on board made the day such a success and crafting this edit was definitely a pleasure that brought back all the wonderful memories of that day. Anyway check it out!

Audrey + Daniel // Same-Day Edit

and 5…4…3…2…1!
As this near ends, I’m so excited to share this same-day edit we captured yesterday! What a great way to end the year with this beautiful wedding. The day could not have gone so smoothly if it were not for the coordinators, photographers and vendors!

I’ve known Audrey about a decade ago when we were attending UCR for our undergrad. Although we haven’t seen each other during the gaps of this period, it was easy to reconnect and see the connection that makes Daniel and Audrey so special. Even their dogs, Pepper and Riley made it to the wedding!

Check out their SDE and their reactions. Happy New Year, be safe and cheers to a New Year!
